Brief Profile of CFN
CFN; Child Development Association is non-sectarian, non-profit local non-government organization and registration Organization, issued by Ministry of Home Affairs. CFN was established by the initiative of national staffs from UNICEF, Save the Children, World vision and other child rights specialist since 2003 October. Retired personnel from Department of social welfare, Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work degree holders, Volunteer Social Work Officers who were recognized by Department of Social Welfare and Child Rights Governance thematic specialist are core members of the working forces in organization.
The function of child rights situational analysis, promoting child rights, Child protection and enhancing meaningful child participation and nondiscrimination, UPR process, CRC alternative report are professional job of CFN. CFN has network with NGOs Child Rights Working Groups, Child Protection Technical Working Groups and other CSOs and CBOs. Moreover, CFN team is leading local NGO with Save the Children International; Myanmar, on thematic matters in NGOs Child Rights Working Groups. CFN team have been implementing the activities in line with social work theory/practice and thematic oriented rights-based approach.
Vision Statement
Girls, boys and young women attain the fundamental rights according to UNCRC, Child Rights Law, CEDAW and create an enabling and protective environment for special needs in protection.
Working Approach
To respect, protect and fulfill their fundamental rights through advocating and engaging the duty bearers, strengthening the cooperation and collaboration with institutions civil society and community, strengthening the capacity of CPGs, CBOs, CSOs for sustainability..
Thematic Advisory Team
TAT has been formed in organization since 2013. Social Work diploma degree holders, development studies scholars, well experienced social work and thematic specialized actors are members of TAT.
Milestones
- A Member of National child Rights Committee (two consecutive term up to now) (Myanmar Gazette)
- A member of Technical Working Group for rules related law (Child rights Law) (Stall in process)
- A member of Technical Working Group for drafting the Child Protection Policy. (Stall in process)
- Facilitating workshop/ training for Departmental personnel community members which was recognized by Myanmar Human Rights Commission since 2016.
- A group member of Positive Discipline Module development team with INGOs.
- Actively participated in consultation with new child rights law drafting process and engaged with Upper and Lower Parliament Affairs Committees.
- Consecutive actively contributed in Universal Periodic Review reporting process to UN Human Rights Council.
- Regularly contributed in complementary reporting to UN Committee on Child Rights.
- Consecutive conducted the child rights situational analysis (CRSA).
- Strategic long-term partnership organization and actively leading member in NCRWG.
- Co-lead in human rights sector at Myanmar NGO Network.
- Sharing the thematic issue; Children Associated with Armed Conflict, Child Labor, Human Right Education, Gender based violence, Gender Equality, Child Participation.
